Our Instructors are fully devoted to working with every student of all ages and skill levels to bring out the best in everyone. Our Instructors have invested countless years in the study of martial arts and self-defence. They have acquired various certification from national and international governing bodies to instruct to the highest technical and ethical level.

Our Instructors continue to upgrade their personal and professional skills as they share the countless benefits of the study of Martial Arts with members of our society.

Master Michael Sirota (Chief Master Instructor) [Email]

Master Michael Sirota began his humble Journey in Martial Arts in 1983. For over 27 years, he has immersed himself fully as a Martial Arts Practitioner, Athlete, Instructor, Coach, Pioneer and Facilitator.

It is his current Mission to apply the virtues of martial arts to assist in creating a Society that is compassionate, ethical and altruistic. His teachings engage his students to 'get involved' and bring 'Martial Arts' to the community outside the martial arts schools walls. Master Michael Sirota has received countless awards and recognitions including being Inducted into Four Martial Arts Hall of Fames. Ms. Barbara Mellor (Program Director-Richmond) [Email]

Barbara brings great enthusiasm, excitement and organization to The Alchymy. She is always willing to assist the students and parents with any issues. Barbara can happily assist you with any Student Services issues. Barbara is also our community liaison, establishing positive relationships with community organizations and businesses.




Master Byeong Geun Park (Senior Instructor) [Email]

Master Park is an Internationally Certified Master Instructor in Taekwondo holding a 5th Dan Black Belt. He also holds Black Belt Rank in Hapkido from the World Hapkido Federation. In addition, he is one of a handful of instructors that holds a Teaching License as a 'Disability Taekwondo Instructor' from the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Korea.




Mr. Serge Makarenko (Instructor) [Email]

Mr. Serge Makarenko brings great energy, enthusiasm and creativity to our classes. He currently instructs all classes at The Alchymy, as well as conducts private lessons for students with special needs. Mr. Serge is a certified 2nd Dan (Degree) Black Belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido. He also holds a Black Belt and Instructor License from the International Disabled Self-Defense Association. Mr. Serge is the Coach for the Para-Taekwondo (Special Needs) Demonstration Team.




Mr. Lloyd Lukban (Instructor) [Email]

Mr. Lloyd has been an active student at The Alchymy since 1998. He is the instructor for various children's, adult and family classes. Mr. Lloyd is a certified 2nd Dan (Degree) Black Belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido. He also holds a Black Belt Degree and an Instructor License from the International Disabled Self-Defense Association. Mr. Lloyd is the Head Instructor for our exciting Martial Arts Birthday Parties.




Mr. Vadim Korotchenko (Instructor) [Email]

Mr. Vadim Korotchenko an avid competitor, winning the B.C. Black Belt Championships and representing Team BC at several National Championships is the Coach for our Competition Team. Mr. Vadim is an internationally certified 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido instructing all group and private lessons at The Alchymy.




Ms. Joan Mendoza (Assistant Instructor) [Email]

Ms. Joan Mendoza is a Certified 2nd Degree Black Belt Holder in Taekwondo and Hapkido. She has been a student at The Alchymy since she was in grade 1. She frequently works with Tiny Tiger and Children's Group Classes with great enthusiasm and excitement. Joan also conducts private lessons for children with special needs.




Ms. Vanessa Kong (Assistant Instructor) [Email]

Ms. Vanessa Kong is an internationally certified black belt. She assists with our Martial Arts Program for people with special needs at The Alchymy as well as our satellite location at the Richmond Centre for Disability.




Ms. Erika Dizon (Assistant Instructor) [Email]

With over ten years of martial arts training at Sirota's Alchymy, Ms. Erika brings much enthusiasm and excitement to the classes. In addition to assisting Children's Classes, she is the Assistant Coach of our Para-Taekwondo Demonstration Team.




Ms. Jane Chi (Instructor Trainee) [Email]

Jane assists with our Tiny Tiger, Children and Special Needs group lessons with compassion and care. She frequently assists with our Martial Arts Birthday Parties.




Ms. Zahra Haji (Life Skills Instructor) [Email]

Ms. Zahra works with our Special Needs Martial Arts Programs. She assists with group lessons as well as conducts private lessons for children with various special needs and challenges. She is highly sought after instructor specializing in working with children with severe challenges and special abilities.
